Section 1 Part A

So Industrialism brought about a very clear division of society, because you could tell who was the rich and who was the poor even in cities. People cared about their class, cared about looking rich, and cared about their reputation.  It was a lot like right now, because everyone was in close proximity but of very different classes.

Section 1 Part B

People other than the aristocracy started noticing that class was a thing that mattered. The middle class bought their way into the aristocratic lifestyle, engaging in philanthropic activities, buying nice-ass houses, going to fancy balls (living the dream man). The middle class set this standard of morality, love for their children, and not being arrogant. So in order to keep up with the times, the aristocracy had to do that too, it was crazy.

Section 2 part A

Now our buddy Louis Pasteur, that French nerd, came up with this idea that there were germs were a thing and could be killied if heated enough, keeping foods from going bad. Also, he came up withvaccines to help keep people alive longer. In cities, families didn't need to make 20 god damn babies to tend to the farm, since there was no farm to tend. BAM. DECREASED BIRTH RATE.

Section 2 part B

Son, let me tell you something: the 19th century WAS NOT KIND to rural areas. Everyone was leaving!! No one wanted to be Old Farmer McGee when they could be McGee from the office, yanno? So some rural places declined or straight up DIED.

HOWEVER, cities had a relatively good time. They got nice makeovers, malls, neighborhoods. Cute stuff. But then there was the whole thing with the overcrowding and the nasty sewers that had to be built because people finally realized that putting your nasty trash and poop in the backyard wasn't healthy or cute.

Section 3 Part A

Well this is the point in history when everyone hops on the "family is an important stucture and morality should be instilled in children and by that we mean repress everyone's sexuality" bandwagon that exists even today still. And probably tomorrow too. Yep. This is when families are like "Wow Tommy might actually live past the age of 5 maybe we can love him." Family time was considered happiness time, and children were seen as the center of a joyful life.anI don't understand why the part about gender roles is even an AP standard because like??????? Gener roles have been in place since the freaking asscrack of time, and yeah, IT IS THE YEAR TWO THOUSAND AND SIXTEEN d there are still conservative old white men who think women shouldn't be anything but housewives and baby makers like??? when has that ever changed at all? haha okay sure

Section 3 Part B

Well some people love other people and it makes them wanna marry eachother. Now, back in my day, kids married becasue they had alot of bank. Love wasn't in the picture. Gotta give the sugar if you wanna be the daddy, knowmsaying? But since in the 19th century more working class people had more money, you could maybe marry for love because bae was more likely to be loaded.

Section 3 Part C

Now that everyone was making a little bit more money, families had a little more free time, especially when reforms were made allowing break days and such. So the whole fam could go out and chill at a local movie theater, or see a show in a club, or if they lived in a port town, go to the boardwalk. It was pretty nice. And if your family was loaded you could go out and

Section 4 Part 1

So, capitalism ABOUNDED in this era son. Not to mention, malls were invented in this era, and what with them factories for textiles and processed foods, everyone was like !!! wow!! such capitalism!! And went crazy with the conspicuous consupmtion and whatnot.

Section 4 Part 2

You've probably heard the song "I've Been Working on the Rail Road" . But imma let you in on a little secret, son: That song was written at about the time this chapter was revolving around!! Trains and steam boats and all those old-timey methods of transportation were very popular at this time, because they made good transportation for humans, fast delivery methods for factories, and speedy imports/exports. They were pretty much good for everything and everyone liked them!! Now that people could just hitch a ride on a train to get to the city and shop, they did just that!! They could go to the mall, go to the doctor, all sorts of stuff! Also, prices of manufactured items dropped since it was easier to transport the products  and such.
